"These own-rooted, gnarled Pinot Noir vines are all that remains of the original plantings at Dick Erath’s Chehalem Mountain Vineyard site. This particular block was planted in 1968 and today it produces an elegant, structured wine with fine tannins. Older vines offer stability in a way that younger vines do not - deep roots reach through multiple layers of soil to draw character and complexity to a consistently small crop. This wine is our tribute to the pioneers of the Willamette Valley, 50 years later. It is our duty to respect this heritage and to ensure these old vines are valued and celebrated."  - Only 50 6-Packs Produced!

"From own-rooted Pinot Noir vines originally planted by Dick Erath in 1968, the 2016 Pinot Noir 1968 Chehalem Mountain Vineyard is pale to medium ruby in color with a purple tone. It is youthfully coiled on the nose, opening out to a wonderful perfume of dried violets and lavender with nuances of pink peppercorn and charcuterie over blueberries, black cherries and blackberries plus a vein of granite underneath. The light to medium-bodied palate is packed with layers of blue and black fruits, floral perfume, warm earth and exotic spice with a core of crushed rock minerality. It’s framed by finely grained tannins and juicy acidity, finishing very long, layered and spicy. 50 cases produced." - EB
